Mac is the CEO and Founder of the Equal Group, a consultancy service based in the Midlands that helps businesses optimize their equality, diversity, and inclusion efforts. Equal Group works with various organizations in different sectors, including Thames Water, Macmillan Cancer Support, and the Greater London Authority, to deliver data-driven transformational initiatives. Mac also serves as a Trustee and sits on the Lloyds Banking Group Black Business Advisory Committee.

In this conversation, Mac and Sope discuss various topics that include Mac’s disillusionment with school, his initial lack of interest in the energy sector, and the importance of pushing through discomfort. They also touch on Mac’s decision not to conform to the usual career progression methods, the need to change the perception of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) by being data-led and data-driven, and the continuous learning journey as a leader and organization.

Measuring personal and professional success is also discussed, along with Mac’s experience as an introvert participating in panel discussions, facilitating workshops, and speaking on stage.
